How Early Should You Book a Domestic Flight?
There's no single perfect day to book — but there is a sensible window depending on your trip type.
Standard domestic trips
For most non-holiday domestic travel, a window of roughly one to three months ahead tends to offer a reasonable balance of fare availability and schedule choice.
Holiday travel
For Thanksgiving, winter holidays, or travel tied to a major event, booking further out — often two to four months ahead — gives you a better shot at your preferred flight times before they sell out.
Business or short-notice trips
When travel dates aren't flexible, the priority shifts from finding the lowest fare to comparing what's realistically available across carriers and, where applicable, nearby airports.
